Atafona beach, São João da Barra/Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil

Talking about Atafona beach requires a historical perspective From a place that went through my childhood, and after years of living in Niterói/RJ, in 2003 I was able to return to the place with a formal academic project financed by CNPq. And after that I brought it in my Scientific production is the hallmark of a series of academic productions, with students and fellow professors. Students at UFF and UERJ, Geography, Geophysics and Cartographic Engineering courses.

There was Papers presented at Latin American congresses in the areas of cartography, geodesy, remote sensing, geology, geomorphology, physical geography and oceanography. All these my participations in fronts of works that brought advances in scientific research results, all published. I am grateful to teachers Mauro Sargento, Kenitiro Suguio (in memorian), Aristides Arthur Soffiatti Netto and others who preceded me diligently and very seriously in Atafona and its surroundings, especially the Quaternary plain of the Paraíba do Sul River and its Historic evolution.

I learned with many fellow professors, also geodesy professionals, about how to understand the coastal processes highlighted there and ongoing until today. After defending my doctorate in Geography in 2005, not satisfied, I went to study quaternary geology at the national museum-UFRJ. Incredible experience, I met excellent research professors, I immersed myself in knowledge of areas such as archaeology, environmental geology, mineralogy, anthracology, palynology, for example, expanding knowledge in other thematic dimensions. I was able to have authentic autonomy in analyzing and interpreting the processes of the coastal plain of the Paraíba do Sul river, with more property and more depth after all this trajectory.
